Aileen hails from nearby Midleton, and arrives with a wealth of experience in the Tourism Marketing field.
Starting her career in Tourism in The Jameson Experience , Midleton, Aileen moved to Dublin in 1997 with the launch of The Old Jameson Distillery, in Dublin.
She progressed her career to become Marketing Manager of Irish Distillers Visitor Centres, while along the way gained a degree in Marketing from The Marketing Institute of Ireland.
Aileen says of her appointment: “It is ultimately my remit to maximise exposure for Youghal as a Tourism Destination. I intend doing this through the generation of positive publicity in the media and all other outputs available to me.
However, this can only be achieved with the concerted input and co-operation of the people of Youghal. I call on the people of Youghal to work with me, and with each other in these efforts.
Let’s tell everyone something we already know to be true – that Youghal truly is the number one seaside resort in the South East!”
Other areas Aileen intends to focus on will be the roll-out of various marketing initiatives.
Barbara Murray, Cllr Barbara Murray, (also Director of Socio-Economic Development Group) noted: “We have waited a long time to get a dedicated Tourism Officer for Youghal. We are thrilled with Aileen’s appointment.” Barbara also added “This is a huge positive for Youghal, we truly deserve it, and it can only serve to maximise the potential of attracting more visitors to Youghal.”
Aileen is currently based in the Youghal Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Offices in Market Square, every Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday from 9.00 am – 5.00 pm
